The Great Outdoors

SweetGrass is quite simply nature’s playground. Here, days are spent fishing for trout in Boone Fork Creek, canoeing 22-acre SweetGrass Lake, strolling along our three miles of nature trails and discovering the many parks and campsites tucked away within the community. In other words, at SweetGrass, the great outdoors truly come to life.

Boone Fork Creek

This protected trout stream has North Carolina’s highest water quality rating. To further protect this amazing natural resource, at SweetGrass, we’re going beyond the requirements to protect the entire creek. Extending the size of stream buffers and preserving flood plains are just two examples.

SweetGrass Lake

At the heart of SweetGrass is the 22-acre SweetGrass Lake. With views of Grandfather Mountain in the background, this is the perfect place for swimming, canoeing or just floating the day away.

Parks & Trails

Among the most fascinating features of SweetGrass are the many tucked away parks and campsites. Follow the trail to Hilltop Park, an excellent site for a child’s first campout. Explore Chimney Park and spin tales around the old homestead chimney. Or pack a picnic and canoe across the lake to Lakeside Park.

Year-round Activities

From paddling to pedaling, swimming to skiing, at SweetGrass the lifestyle is decidedly active. Whether you prefer the thrill of a nearby whitewater rafting trip or discovering a field of wildflowers outside your door, there’s something new at SweetGrass every day of the year.
